After her recent trauma, not to mention our's, poor Millie is now ensconced in Kennels back in Dubai where she has received a new micro-chip together with a full round of vaccinations. There is a 21 day incubation period and we expect her arrival on the 9th August, hopefully this time without incident.
Let it be a lesson to all pet owners looking to travel with their animals, check the paperwork against the chip personally to make sure all is in order, that way you will have happy pets and happy pockets!
We were all so excited about the arrival of the doggies yesterday but shortly after landing at the airport, it became apparent that we had a problem with Millie. It seems that her microchip is not readable by the scanner in use at Nice airport.
As an expat you know that if you succumb to the pleading and the puppy dog eyes, I'm talking about the looks from my husband and kids not from an animal, the 'it's not fair, so and so has a dog', if you just falter for a second, there is no going back you suddenly become responsible for another family member that you one day you have to repatriate.
Welcome to my vintage life where I am living my dream renovating an old stone villa in the hills of Grasse, spending my time scouring the local flea-markets finding all things old, vintage and shabby to give this little old house a soul.
Here is a snap shop of my garden where I have big plans to grow as much home grown produce as possible, a place where the children can learn and experience hand's on where their food is coming from and I can learn to live with the land.
